Where do you begin with this epic wedding? It all started at a rehearsal in the gorgeous sunshine and flowers which then brought everyone, like, everyone to the Denver Rockies game. It was Cheryl's Grandma's first time at a baseball game in all of her 90+ years. Cheryl and Joe are really into their family and friend time, and the whole wedding weekend was oriented to that.
Wedding day started off early in the hotel with hair and makeup. Again it was Grandma's first time getting her makeup done professionally so her two granddaughters hung out in robes in the room as she got dolled up. Cheryl wore her Grandma's locket as her something borrowed too, which was so lovely. I pretty much obsessed over Cheryl's Oscar de la Renta dress, which was covered in intricate origami shapes. And then her flowers! So many colors and textures. Everything was simple and yet extremely detailed at the same time for the whole day and I loved it. We scooted off to the Denver Botanical Gardens for a ceremony brought to you by my best friend, Jen Coffin, who also happened to by Cheryl's team leader from the AmeriCorps days. Jen did an excellent job punching jokes in-between the soft sweet moments, including Joe's reveal of the wedding band he designed along with Cheryl's cousin for her.
A little bit of family photo time and a walk around the gardens for Joe and Cheryl photos led to nap time. That's right. Cheryl and Joe are big sleep advocates so they sent their guests off into the city of Denver for scavenger hunts or to do whatever they wanted until dinner time. I met Cheryl and Joe for a romp around downtown for photos in all of their glamour before heading over to The Kitchen for their reception. Cheryl and Joe wanted a laid back feel for their wedding and they certainly got it with the really cool hip vibe of the bar area at The Kitchen Denver. Cheryl's dad gave a tearful speech and we moved up to a four course meal of family style platters, which was basically the most amount of food I have ever seen. And so good!
Speeches by Cheryl's cousin, Joe's best friend and then his sister kept the crowd chattering and laughing and swimming in all the bliss of the evening. A sweet first dance was followed by father daughter and mother son dances before Cheryl and Joe called the pedi cab to take them back to their suite. Such a generous loving couple, all that was reflected in their wedding. So good, so good!
