Rashi and Rumman's wedding was just so amazing to be a part of. It was a gorgeous July day, with a slight breeze with a ceremony on the side of a lake surrounded by willow trees at Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake. Add in some amazing brightly colored florals and saris and you have photography heaven. Rashi had a parade of female friends and relatives that put together her intricate garb, and Rumman got to take a quiet moment to himself just before the ceremony to take a deep breath. The florals by Flower Scout were exquisite and brought so much life to the already colorful event.
The ceremony was a mix of traditional pieces and western simplicity. They exchanged garlands and paid their respects to their parents with a feet touching ceremony, before being sung to by a chorus of female relatives and recessing under a shower of bright petals. We had family photos and a few couple's portraits under the willows, before the bride and groom went into to change into another Sari and a tux for the reception.
Rashi and Rumman had been practicing their Bollywood choreography to entertain their guests for their first dance. It was so awesome to see that much energy in a room for a first dance. Then their nieces performed dances as well which were more than impressive.
I stole Rashi and Rumman outside for a few twirls under the willow tree during golden hour and returned them to speeches that kept the laughter rolling through out the whole room. Then the whole crowd had an opportunity to learn some Bollywood dance moves, as a gracious friend lead the dance floor in some choreography, which opened the dance floor to pure dancing bliss. So much energy from everyone. There wasn't a moment that a huge crowd wasn't strutting their stuff. The colorful saris, the lights, all the different ages of dancers. It was epic. DJ Vinny Vin of NonStopMusic was incredible and kept everyone moving for hours. A low key cake cutting ceremony, an ice cream sundae bar and a circle of friends to dance in the middle of closed out the evening. I was so happy to be a part of such a wonderful couple's start into married life. They are such kind generous people and a joy to celebrate with.
